Estimated to be from the mid 18th century and of the Nara School this is a beautiful Japanese Deity theme tsuba. In the moku style and of hammered iron with Jizo Bosatsu floating on a cloud in gold and silver inlay in high relief. The reverse of the tsuba features a landscape theme with a small amount of inlay. The kozuka and kogai ana feature silver mimi to limit damage to the aforementioned precious metal handles.
