The unique Shashka (or Shashqua) cavalry saber has its roots in the 12th century Caucasus region of Europe.
Here is an excellent replica of a traditional shaska you would find among the common folk of Caucasus Mountain in the 1700s. Simple, powerful and graceful in the hand for a horseman's sabre. The well distal tapered blade is fashioned from heat treated spring steel and features a full tang similar to that found on knives. The beautifully finished timber grip panels are supported by solidly pinned steel bolsters again as would be seen on knife blades of the time. A brown leather lanyard compliments the design as well as allow extra security while on horseback. The timber scabbard is wrapped in black leather and features low maintenance stainless steel accoutrements.
