Mainstay of the Highland warriors of the late 15th and 16th centuries, the Claymore sword had a uniquely styled hilt that sets it apart from other great swords of the period. Typically of longsword length, this versatile weapon could deliver great sweeping slashes or powerful thrusts. Replicated from a surviving museum piece our Claymore sword is classic in its design, with distinctive sloping quillons terminating in quatrefoils and a high-collared quillon block with langets following the blade fuller.
The Kingston Arms Scottish Claymore presents this refined version of this popular and distinguishable sword. Many reproductions of the Scottish Claymore tend to be bulky, clunky and out of balance compared to originals. The slim grip of the Claymore is leather-covered timber with the quillions and pommel being constructed from low maintenance and durable stainless steel. The pommel of this Kingston Arms Scottish Claymore in more in proportion and design consistent with historical pieces. The through tempered live blade is forged from 65MN carbon steel which is not only tough but also has good edge retention characteristics. This sword like the originals does NOT come with a scabbard.
