With over 100 million copies sold in over 40 languages, millions have grown up with The Lord of the Rings, the classic epic tale considered by millions to be the greatest fantasy-adventure story ever told. J.R.R. Tolkien's phenomenal epic trilogy chronicles the struggle between good and evil for possession of a magical ring. The book trilogy, named the most popular book of the 20th Century, has been presented in a series of feature films from New Line Cinema.
This officially licensed and superb quality reproduction item is an exact replica of Anduril, the Flame of the West. The sword originally started life as Narsil, wielded by Elendil in the War of the Last Alliance. After Elendil is struck down by Sauron, Elendil's son Isildur, takes up his fathers sword and severed the One Ring from Saurons hand. Unfortunaely in doing so, Narsil is shattered into pieces. It was then reforged by Elves and engraved with runes saying "Anar. Nányë Andúril I né Narsil i macil Elendilo. Lercuvantan i móli Mordórëo. Isil." in Quenya, which translates as "Sun. I am Andúril who was once Narsil, sword of Elendil. The slaves of Mordor shall flee from me. Moon" . Aragorn takes up the sword in the final film of the trilogy and leads the armies to victory against Sauron and the dark hoards.
This Museum Collection edition of Anduril features a 103cm 1060 high carbon steel blade with several improvements over our standard version of the sword that more accurately replicate the hero filming props. The surface polish is finer, the engraved blade runes are more accurately shaped and detailed, and the fuller grooves are now the correct length. Each sword is individually serial numbered on the blade and includes a certificate of authenticity. A 14 1/8” wooden wall display offers an intricately detailed gold-plated metal crest and gold-plated sword mounting arms, and also includes a Gondorian themed blue cloth banner to be hung behind the display. The display and banner feature the ancient heraldry of the Kingdom of Gondor: a flowering white tree of Gondor, the seven stars of Elendil, and a winged crown above them, the symbol of the king. The Museum Collection Anduril is considered the ultimate piece of the United Cutlery Museum Collection to most Lord of the Ring collectors.
