While not a direct copy of any particular sword, the Tinker Viking sword design was inspired by historical examples from the early 9th Century, most notably finds from the area around Trondheim, Norway, where the circular indentation hilt decoration was popular. The quality leather covered timber scabbard is provided with suspension points and a period chape construced from maintenance free stainless steel, giving the sheathed sword a very attractive appearance. The marquenched 5160 spring steel blade garners good edge retention and toughness characteristics while the full tang is peened in the period fashion at the pommel for even more durability and authenticity. The slightly forward balance and breadth of the sharp blade makes for an efficient cutting profile.
